Companions Portraits Recent and Relevant

Max-Karl giving his talkBefore the big SNOW this past Sunday on our way to Bistro Du Coin, a bustling neighborhood restaurant on Connecticut Ave. in Du Pont Circle area, we stopped in to see what was happening at Washington Printmakers Gallery. Max-Karl Winkler, whose work just happens to be on our masthead this month, was having a preview reception and gallery talk. What a delight! There were already many people admiring the fantastic prints and drawings that Max-Karl was showing. His images of friends and family in quick sketches or long poses are done in graphite, pen and ink, charcoal, carbon pencil and, of course, woodcuts. We didn’t get to stay for the talk but heard only good reviews.
Do check him out. The exhibit runs from Feb 23 to March 29 with an opening reception on March 6 from 5-8pm.      Terry Svat
