Richie Lasansky at WPG on August 7

We are very excited to announce that Richie Lasansky will be on-hand to answer questions about his work at the opening for this year’s National Small Works on August 7th after a short introduction by WPG member artist Margaret Adams Parker.

Richie is the grandson of Mauricio Lasanksy, to whom he was apprenticed for eight years. Mauricio has been active in the printmaking world for over 65 years, known for his large-scale, full-color artist prints. The influence Mauricio had can be seen in this exhibition here. Richie himself grinds his own inks and prides himself on pulling all of his own prints. He will bring plates and proofs to show during the opening.

Mr. Lasansky was first in show with his print Fish Girl (also in this exhibition) at the 2009 12th Annual National Small Works Exhibit, juried by Jane Haslem, director of The Jane Haslem Gallery in Washington, DC, entitling him to this year’s Juror’s Choice Solo Exhibition.

    • It’s interesting to see how many people in DC have ties to the Lasansky printmakers-the art world (especially the print world!) is a small one indeed!
