Brad Widness at MAPC 2010

"Wall" by Brad Widness, 13x10 in, intaglio and collograph, 2007

WPG member Brad Widness is participating in the Mid-America Print Council Conference “New World Old World” (held at the University of Minnesota Regis Center for The Arts in Minneapolis, Minnesota) in a big way this year!  He has been accepted at three exhibitions/portfolios.  Unless otherwise noted, these will be on display at the conference, October 12-16.

On display now through November, Brad has work in “Prints in 3D”,
a 3D Print Exhibit (what else?) featured at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, curated by Jeff Rathermel.

Second, his work was accepted at the MAPC invitational exhibit “THENOW” where prints by contemporary artists are shown alongside works drawn from the Weisman Art Museum.  Brad’s work will be side by side, and holding its own, with works by Daumier, Goya, and Picasso.   Interesting side note–prints by Mauricio Lasansky (grandfather of our current solo artist, Richie Lasansky) will also be in this show.  This will be on view during the MAPC conference.

Finally, Brad was selected as 1 of 15 printmakers to be participant in national portfolio exchange: “Part of the Collective,” which will also be on view at the conference.

Congratulations to Brad and all his hard work!  If you can’t make it to the conference to see Brad’s work, don’t despair.  WPG has several of his prints in the flat files and in the perusal bins (and new ones on the way!), including the one pictured above.
