Wow! Does it ever seem that one week you have a lot of free time and then the next week everything happens at once? That’s where WPG is right now–taking a big breath before our next events, and enjoying that fact that we placed 3rd in the Express Best of 2010 Poll for “Best Small Gallery!” Keep recommending us to your friends in person, via emails, and on Facebook so WPG can make #1 next year! Read on to see what the next few weeks has in store for WPG, and put it in your calendar!
THIS SATURDAY: (October 23, 1-4 pm) WPG is throwing the Thank You Silver Spring Party. As mentioned before, we have had three articles written about our shows by the local paper (plus lots of online action via Patch, Free in DC, etc) and have generally been very welcomed by our new community. We have give-aways including gift certificates to Silver Spring restaurants and of course, WPG. Also we have two print raffles going on, with the drawing tomorrow! Right now Max’s beautiful print (featured to the left) only has one ticket purchased, so odds are looking pretty good–it could be yours for only $5, but you have to buy the ticket first!
NEXT WEEK: Stop in starting Tuesday, October 26 to see Lee Newman’s Solo exhibition, Glimpse. This retospective show will feature somewhere between 40 and 60 works, including a print now in the collection of both the Corcoran and National Gallery of Art. One of this award-winning edition could be yours for $450. The Opening Reception for this exhibition is Sunday, November 7, 1-4 pm and Lee and other WPG artist members will be holding an Artist Technical Talk on Sunday, November 14.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5-SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 7–WPG will host a booth at the Pyramid Atlantic Book Arts Fair! Read our earlier entry about the fair and also the entry on the WPG portfolio that will be for sale, printeDCircuits. The gallery is also open during this time (including Lee’s Opening Reception!) so make it a print-filled weekend by seeing both in one day!
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19 5-8 PM–WPG is pleased to announce its partnership with the Old Print Gallery in Georgetown. November 19-January 14 the Old Print Gallery will be holding a show of WPG member artists hand selected by their director. If you can’t make it out to Silver Spring, this is a great opportunity to see some wonderful artwork by the ever-talented WPG member artists, including Jenny Freestone, Gabriel Jules, and Brad Widness, among others.
