Excellence in Printmaking–Students in the greater mid-Atlantic region (specifically Delaware, DC, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia)–you should be just about done with exams now, so don’t forget this exhibition opportunity! Excellence in Printmaking is an award WPG has been giving out with the Washington Print Club for a few years now. This year is the first time we are turning it into a full-blown, juried exhibition. We are privileged to have Katherine Blood, Curator of Fine Prints for the Library of Congress, as our juror. Prizes are still awarded, and first prize has a $500 cash component. Any student attending a BFA or MFA in the above states who has had at least two printmaking courses is eligible to apply. Click the link above for the full prospectus. The Print Center: 85th Annual International Printmaking Exhibition–DEADLINE IS 11:59 TONIGHT! Open to ANY artist whose work includes printmaking as a critical component. This year’s jurors are Emi Eu, Director, Singapore Tyler Print Institute, Singapore; Sarah Suzuki, The Sue and Eugene Mercy, Jr., Assistant Curator of Prints and Illustrated Books, Museum of Modern Art, New York. $3000 in prizes AND a solo exhibition at The Print Center are up for grabs. Target Gallery 2011 Open Exhibition Call for Proposals: This is an Open Call for proposals for an exhibition in the fall of 2011 from Target Gallery, located in the Torpedo Factory Art Gallery in Alexandria, VA, open to all artists from North America working in all visual media. Proposals for exhibitions by both individuals and groups will be considered. The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive a solo exhibition at the Target Gallery from August 20 – September 25, 2011. The artist/s will also receive a stipend and an exhibition catalog. The jurors for this exhibition are Tim Tate (sculptor and co-founder of the Washington Glass School), Danielle O’Steen (DC Critic and Curator), and Jacqueline Ionita (Director of Hamiltonian Gallery).
