Our first call for entries update for 2011–
First and foremost-WPG is excited to announce our 14th annual call for entries for National Small Works. This year’s juror is Robert K. Newman of the Old Print Shop, the longest running family-owned gallery in the US (located in NY, NY). First prize is a solo exhibition in August 2012. Other prizes awarded as well. This exhibition is open to artists nationwide 18 years or older creating traditional, hand-pulled prints (no digital or photographic processes), and the work must be under 170 square inches. Next, if you aren’t a member of Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, you should consider becoming one. Members have access to exclusive events and printing happy hours as well as receive reduced rates on print studio rental. Also, they have a call for entries to member artists for their April exhibition at WPG. This exhibition will be juried by Alec Simpson, visual artist and director of the Brentwood Arts Exchange. Awards are sponsored by Plaza Artist Materials. The deadline for this call for entries is March 01, which is coming up! See more at Pyramid’s website.
Third, the Torpedo Factory Art Center has their call for visiting artist residencies out now through February 28. These residencies can take place for 1, 2,or 3 months between June 1 and August 31, 2011. If you haven’t been to the Torpedo Factory Art Center yet, this is a space worth checking out–82 artist studios, 6 galleries, 2 workshops and the Alexandria Archaeology Museum are all housed here. This residency is definitely a worthwhile opportunity.
Finally, the New York Society of Etchers is holding their first ever National Exhibition of Intaglio Prints. Up to $2500 in awards will be given in the form of $250 Awards of Distinction. The postmark deadline for this call for entries is March 31, 2011. Visit their website for more info.
