Here are a few recent prints from Jenny Freestone, the WPG member artist having a solo exhibition in May. These prints will be included, and we’ll have more new prints by Jenny up on our website within the week.
Jenny’s prints are included in the collections of the Library of Congress, Corcoran Galery of Art, Hunt Institute (Carnegie Mellon University), National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Smithsonian Institution, to name a few. She has also exhibited both nationally and internationally, including the 2011 International Print Biennial in Varna, Bulgaria, the 2010 Delta National Small Prints Exhibition, the 2010 Pacific Rim International Print Exhibit in New Zealand, and the 2009 Boston Printmakers North American Print Biennial (where she won a juror’s award).
Jenny says her subject matter derives from natural forms, remarking, “There is always an initial ‘wow’ factor which draws me in. This can be purely visual – a perfection of form perhaps, or the subject’s resonance with those historical, ethical or environmental matters which interest me – or both. I often use these natural forms in conjunction with architectural form to reinforce the connection between the human endeavour and the natural world.”
