"Leaves, Light" by Jenny Freestone, Photogravure and Etching, 2010

A few things we wanted to share with you that we think are worth checking out!

Of course, we must first mention Jenny Freestone’s opening reception this Saturday, May 7, 1-4 pm–that’s tomorrow!  Jenny has almost 30 works in this exhibition, over 20 of which are new.  If you can’t make it to the opening, come to Jenny’s demo on Saturday, May 14.

Also, WPG member artist Margaret Adams Parker has an opening TONIGHT 6-9 pm at the Arts Club of Washington.  This exhibition includes her woodcuts, etchings, and sculptures.

Starting this weekend and on view through Tuesday, May 31 is the 5th Annual Washington Post PEEP show, made possible in partnership with Artomatic and Artisphere.  20 dioramas using the famous Easter marshmallow candies will be on display.  Over 900 entries were received!  As you can see, this contest is growing in popularity–check it out at Artisphere this month and you’ll see why.

Gauguin: Maker of Myth is on view at the National Gallery of Art through June 5.  We’ve mentioned Gauguin as a printmaker before after hearing of the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s exhibition Gauguin as Printmaker: the Volpini Suite.  We don’t know if there are any prints in this exhibition as we haven’t been ourselves yet, but Gauguin’s “sumptuous, colorful images” (as the NGA website describes it) are always a treat.
