Final Reminder for NSW and other Artist Opportunities

TOMORROW, Sunday, May 15 at midnight is the FINAL DEADLINE for National Small Works entries.  A solo exhibition, $200 purchase award, $150 to Utrecht Art Supplies, and $100 to Renaissance Graphics Arts are on the table.  Awarding these prizes is Robert K. Newman, dealer and director of the Old Print Shop, the oldest family run gallery in the States, located in New York, NY.  We’re happy to announce that Robert will be at the gallery on Saturday, August 6, at 1 pm for the National Small Works opening reception and award announcements.

In addition to our own call for entries, we wanted to share a few others with you:

Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibit–The UMUC Arts program invites entries of works by artists in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., for the first Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibit, August 1 through October 16, 2011, in the Arts Program Gallery at the UMUC Inn and Conference Center, Adelphi, Maryland.  Jurors for the exhibition will be Helen Frederick, professor, George Mason University; Helen Jackson, independent art consultant/curator; and Evangeline J. Montgomery, artist, retired program development officer, United States Department for the Arts American Program.  Prizes will be awarded for accepted works in four categories: President’s Best of Show, Jurors Choice Award, Award of Merit, and Arts Program Honorable Mention.

Networking Day 2011, Presented by the Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington-Saturday, May 21, 9:30-3:30 athe thMorris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center (Montogomery College), 930 King St, Silver Spring, MD 20910.  This informational session includes workshops on Youtube videos, almost free websites, and approaching galleries.  Additionally, portfolio reviews are offered by gallery owners and art schools on a first come, first serve basis.  Registration is $20-40.
