A few call for entries that local(ish) artists should consider applying for:
Arlington Arts Center Solos 2012: Arlington Arts Center has a call for entries for artists who live or work in Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. 10-14 artists will be accepted to exhibit in AAC’s 7 separate gallery spaces or on the grounds. Proposals that specifically consider AAC’s space are strongly encouraged. The application fee is $25-45 (depending on membership), and the full prospectus can be seen here.
Options 2011: Options 2011 is the 15th WPA biennial exhibition of emerging and unrepresented artists from the Mid-Atlantic region, and presents visitors with a glimpse into the breadth and diversity of contemporary art practice in the area and showcases work in any medium by artists without gallery representation. A catalogue will be produced to accompany the exhibition. Participating artists will receive a $300 stipend. This year’s juror is Stephanie Fedor, Assistant Director, American University Museum at the Katzen Art Center. Submissions from artists in DC, Maryland and Virginia are accepted and due by Monday, June 20. You can see more information about the show at the website.
Mini-Solos at Touchstone: Touchstone is offering an opportunity for area artists to have a “mini show”, hung salon style, in their new space on NY Ave. Each artist’s space will be 10 feet high and about 4 feet wide (with calculated-in adequate spacing between the mini shows), 37 spaces are available, and there will be a screening component – a look-see by a committee of Touchstone artist members. The application deadline is TOMORROW, Sunday, May 29, and the show is on view August 4-27 of this year. There is no application fee, but there is a $230 hanging fee for accepted artists. See more information here.
