We have two calls for entry to share with you this week:
First, the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund for Artists 2011. This call invites visual artists (excluding filmmakers, video artists, and performance artists) to apply for grants to enable recipients to develop their talent and concentrate on their art. We like this grant because it focuses on mature (not old!) artists, as applicants must be 40 years or older. If you are started or are coming back to art as a second career, this is a great opportunity. All applicants must live within 150 miles of Washington, D.C. Three grants totaling $55,000 were awarded in 2010. Applications are due September 15. Click on the link above for more info.
Second, we have a call for young artists. 44T Artspace in Denver, Colorado is accepting submissions for a juried exhibit devoted to fine art prints. The exhibit, entitled Swimming Upstream, will capture and convey the current pulse of youth culture. Prints using traditional media (nothing digital or photographic) will be considered. Entries are due by August 30. See their website for the prospectus and more information.
