Artist member Matina Marki Tillman participated in two recent group exhibitions outside of the DC area. She was one of four artists representing WPG in the June 2011 1st National Exhibition of Intaglio Prints, hosted by the New York Society of Etchers. Other WPG members participating included Jenny Freestone, Pauline Jakobsberg, and Margaret Adams Parker. Matina’s print “Infinity” (shown, left) was one of several drypoints on display in the gallery at the National Arts Club of New York during the exhibition, which ran from June 5th to the 17th. She also recently participated in the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts 100th Annual Juried Exhibition, which was held at the Mystic Arts Center in Mystic, Connecticut. The show, which ran from May 27th to July 16th, featured a mixture of paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and prints. Matina’s miniature solarplate etching “Music Listener 3” was one of a dozen prints selected by jurors to represent the printmaking medium in this show.
You can see more of Matina’s work in the gallery, and, starting October 31, at the Reagan National Airport. Matina will also have a print in the upcoming New York Society of Etcher’s exhibition at the New York Arts Club (opening reception: Tuesday, November 1, 6-8 pm).
