Several WPG members were invited to participate in the New York Society of Etchers recent Director’s Exhibition. The show ran during New York City’s Print Week from October 31st to November 6th. Artist member Matina Marki Tillman attended the opening on November 1st at the National Arts Club in New York. It was a beautiful, intimate show, well worth experiencing in a cozy gallery, perfect for presenting the diverse prints from both associations’ members. The prints all belonged together and at the same time, each print was standing perfectly on its own, becoming the center of a conversation.
The host himself, Richie Lasansky, made sure to welcome all printmakers, friends, and visitors of the show, in an ambience friendly and relaxed. Meeting and talking with inspired printmakers and sharing knoweldge on contemporary and traditional techniques, wide-ranging opinions, and engaging experiences was more than a pleasure. The result was a fine evening in a beautiful venue in one of New York City’s charming, old-world neighborhoods.
If you missed this exhibition, artists from the New York Society of Etchers will exhibit again with WPG artists in January 2012 at Washington Printmakers Gallery. Details will be up on our website soon!
