Don’t forget about keeping up with your show submissions as the holiday season gets busy. Planning thoughtful submissions now could pay off big in the new year. Here’s a few to consider:
American Impressions 2012 (William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ) – an annual juried printmaking exhibition featuring traditional and digital print media and book art. Select works will receive Purchase Awards and become part of the University’s permanent collection. One artist will be selected to have a solo exhibition at the University Galleries. This exhibition is now in its 11th year, and this years juror is Elizabeth F. Spungen, Executive Director of The Print Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Memories from All Directions (Brentwood Arts Exchange, Brentwood, MD) — This call for entries is open to all artists 18 years old or older who live, work, attend school or have studios in Prince George’s County, MD. “Memory” must be a significant part of the work’s theme. All artists who have work accepted into the show receive a $100 honorarium.
Excellence in Printmaking and Press Room Mini Solos–we’ve mentioned these before, but thought they were worth mentioning again as the deadlines are coming up. Excellence in Printmaking is open to printmaking students in the greater mid-Atlantic region. Prints will be juried into the February exhibition by Joann Moser, Senior Curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. From that exhibition, one print (and talented student printmaker) will receive the $500 first prize cash award. The Press Room Mini Solos call for entries is open to all artists working in handmade paper crafts, book arts, and of course, printmaking. We have several months open in 2012 for outside artists to exhibit solo shows in the Press Room space.
