Jenny Freestone

Vessel (Recycle) by Jenny Freestone, Drypoint, 24,18, 2008

WPG Artist Jenny Freestone was supposed to have a solo show here in September.  Unfortunately, she broke her leg and had to bow out.  Everyone is very disappointed she couldn’t show this year, as she had many new prints we were all excited to see.

However, WPG is happy to announce that when one door closes, another opens:  Jenny has been invited to participate in the International Print Biennial in Vana, Bulgaria and Le Arte e il Torchio (Art and the Printing Press) in Cremona, Italy in 2011, bringing her prints to an international audience. She will also be exhibiting a little closer to home, at the Arts Club of Washington in January 2011, and a rescheduled solo exhibition at WPG will be decided soon.

Despite the broken leg, Jenny has had a good year: she has been juried into the following exhibitions for 2010: 2010 Delta National Small Prints Exhibition (which also accepted member artist Brad Widness); Pacific Rim International Print Exhibition, University of Canterbury, New Zealand; Shy Rabbit Print 2 in CO; The Printed Image 3, Mulvane Art Museum in KS; Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club 114th Annual Open in NY; SAGA 77th Members’ Exhibition in Australia; 31st Annual Paper in Particular at Colombia College in MO; 8th National Janet Turner Print Competition, California State University; Americas 2010 – Paperworks, Minot State University; Exploring Contemporary Printmaking, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in CA; “Thoreau’s Legacy” at the Union of Concerned Scientists, Washington DC; Art on Paper, Maryland Federation of Art; McNeese Annual National Works on Paper, LA; 9th Lessedra World Art Print Biennial, Bulgaria.

Jenny has many works in the perusal bins and flat files, so please stop by the gallery to see her prints in person.  Also, be sure to come to the new September Exhibition, Director’s Cut, featuring several of the Director’s favorite prints and printmakers!

  1. sorry to see Jenny broke her leg – that looks a great drypoint – maybe she’ll drop by me in france in 2011 – don’t seem to have her current e mail.

    • Hi Matt, send me an email at the gallery and I can forward your information on to her. Jenny actually made it into the gallery on Sunday and I’m happy to report she’ll have another show early next year, though I don’t know how much good it does you in France! Do check back though for future pictures of her show.
